Beauty over wisdom to fit in with their styles Your Cinderella story's for a price Vanity's a business built to please the unique Silicone and stars collide, the rest will fall in line
Visually you're stimulating to my eyes Your Cinderella syndrome's full of lies Your insecurities are concealed by your pride Pretty soon your ego will kill what's left inside
You're everything that's so typical Maybe you're alone for a reason You're the reason
Just as beautiful as you are It's so pitiful what you are You should have seen this coming all along
It's so pitiful what you are As beautiful as you are You should have seen this coming all along
-From 10 Years, "Beautiful" -------------------------------------
...I realize that song seems to be more about the kind of beauty pushed by Hollywood with Botox and implants...but since this character is often praised as "hot", I figured it was still appropriate.
I also realize there's some irony in my making this; being so against Kursed getting any attention, and here I am drawing her. My only defense is that this is meant to be the antithesis of most, if not all, attention Kursed recieves.
I've seen fanart and fanfiction of a similar vein...the idea that becoming an angsty exile is "badass" and good for Krystal's character. I've also seem some stories that involve Kursed seeking "revenge" on StarFox.
Revenge for what, I'm not really sure. Revenge for joining her former enemies then abandoning the whole situation when things got too tough for her, maybe? ...Oh wait, she did that to herself.
To me, then, it seems that whole ending consists of her feeling sorry for herself. And, contrary to the ideas these stories and such have pushed, I don't think this attitude should be praised or glamorized EVER. Goodness knows it's considered exciting, even in real life, just undoing your whole life because it wasn't going your way.
It's also opposite because people seem to think Kursed, wearing black and being super kewl, can exact "revenge" on Fox personally. That's horseshit. The argument could be made that Krystal can put up a decent fight, but Fox is older, more experiences, and well...a man, so almost definetely stronger, and he's considered fast, so I doubt she'd be able to overcome that obstacle with agility.
You know what else is shit? The idea that Kursed is "hot". You're really going to look at that buldging, constipated face and tell me she's better than Marcus or Lucy? At least those two don't represent a ridiculous plot extremity.
So here we have the end result; Kursed, being beaten by Fox, BEGGING for mercy and apologizes for all the wrongs she had done. And Fox, ashamed that the woman he loved (and still does somehwere, maybe?) and former teamate could stoop so low, contemplates whether or not to grant her the luxury of forgiveness.
Hopefully this scenario will never come to fruition, as much as some fanboys would like it; this is really more retaliation against fan interpretations, not so much the characters themselves...although I'll be greatly disappointed if Kursed actually becomes canon. -----
This is just a sketch, but I thought the roughness and lack of color would fit this situation. I had a hard time with Kursed's pose...it might have been more effective to have drawn her with her arms closer together, maybe with her back more hunched. I actually used a yoga pose as a reference, I really could not find anything else.
-----
Fox, Krystal, and unfortunately, the Kursed persona-Nintendo
(Please note-I DO NOT CARE if you sympathize with Krystal/Kursed in Command)
(...I also realize that I'm being a total bitch, but I don't really care...sometimes...being a bitch is oddly satisfying.)
If only that one sentence was enough to get people to understand what Kursed is really about.
I'm fairly sure the reason people love Kursed is not because of Star Fox Command, but because somebody drew good fanart of her, didn't provide good enough explanation as to why she was that way, and the Krystal fanaticism being what it is, you've got a viral fanbase dedicated to a character whose sad, cautionary ending has been twisted into something dark, edgy and cool.
And to make Fox out as a villain...pffft. Even at his worst, Fox was never responsible for Krystal becoming Kursed...a permanent member of Star Wolf, yes, but not Kursed. Kursed is the result of only one side refusing to atone for their part in the split, so when she rejected Fox's effort to make things right, the blame fell squarely on her.
But hey, what am I saying...if nobody can absorb that one sentence, two paragraphs of explanation isn't going to sway anyone either.

I have the answers to the universe...I just don't know what questions they match up with.
Hey, I'm well aware that I'm preaching to the choir; can't I at least vent and make my feelings aware? I can at least take pride in that I've illustrated and explained my points of views.
That's just my problem; it's NOT cool. I wouldn't give these people that kind of credit. These Kursed-based efforts I've seen are just melodramatic sad, they stray way too far from the overall...feel and atmosphere of StarFox games. And edgy? It's not like the concepts of revenge and not considering ethical consequences are anything new.
I also wouldn't say Fox is responsible for anything Krystal does; if she really has it in her mind that he's to blame for what SHE does, then she's essentially a child.

...revenge? Ye gods. I don't blame you for making this. It really would be sad if she tried, 'cause she likely would fail. Unless she caught him while he was drowning his sorrows with alcohol. Even then, I wouldn't be cheering for her.
The Kursed storyline might... and I mean might; no guarantee here... provide some interesting storylines. Unfortunately, most fanfics are written by people who know nothing about plot and character.
I dunno about you, but I'm beginning to wonder if Star Fox wouldn't benefit from a reboot.

And so very...very stupid (on Krystal's part, mostly).
