Just a fun idea I got after playing Final Fantasy IV. Star Fox is really the one major exception from my usual choice of video game genres. I adore fantasy and generally only play games in relation to it…so it’s very odd that a flying game is my favorite, though you could argue that Star Fox IS a fantasy series.

Nevertheless, it seemed fitting for me to combine the two worlds. I liked the idea of all the characters getting a class that mirrors their personality and piloting/ship stats. So, being the nerd I am, I though of a class, costume, and even some augments for each one. The “allied race” is really just a fun touch, to give you an idea of what their attributes and overall stats I’d imagine them to have.

The following classes and augments are mostly based off III, IV, XI and the Tactics games. The descriptions are just details to accentuate the pictures, and I think they add a depth of entertainment…at least for me.

…This would actually make for an amusing fan story. Maybe the cast crosses some inter-dimension barrier or…a machine manipulates their minds where they think they live in a pseudo-medieval fantasy world. Like “Bender’s Game”, expect Final Fantasy instead of Dungeons and Dragons…also, no one changes gender or into a centaur.

---------

Fox-Paladin
You may think, with his swiftness in the Smash Brothers games, or even by the fact that he’s a fox, he’d be more suited for a thief or ninja class. However, I find his personality and role in his own canon makes him far more fitting for the paladin class in that he’s there to help his teammates AND get the job done. Typically nimble Fox may not seem like the “tank” type, but all you need to do is think about it for a moment. As a tank and a healer, Paladins take the bulk of the heat in battle. Isn’t that what Fox does almost ALL the time? As a Paladin, Fox has adequate attack power coupled with the ability to support his allies with spells. To account for his own unique characteristics, his defense is lower than the typical Paladin, but his speed is much higher, so he can get to those who need help faster, as well as better evade attacks directed at him.
Allied Race: Elvaan
Weapons: One-handed swords and shields. Tried and true, just like Fox.
Augments and Abilities:
“Chivalry”-Includes lower-level White Magic and holy-based attacks unique to the class, such as “Holy Cross”. Fox can’t learn the more advanced spells, but he’ll have enough in his repertoire to keep teammates alive and well.
“Cover/Cease Cover”-Fox can take all physical damage directed at one of his allies. He can also cease coverage at any time and switch to someone else.
“Cover me, Fox!”-Fox automatically takes blows directed at allies in critical condition.
“Move out!”- For every Star Fox team member (Falco, Slippy, Peppy and/or Krystal) included in the party, Fox’s speed increases.

Falco-Dragoon
Contrary to Fox, Falco the thrill-seeking, hot-tempered, self absorbed ace pilot seems like the type to choose showmanship over reliability. Much like the Sky Claw, the Dragoon class is about offense over defense. With multiple capabilities but a small amount of hit points, they both rely on the ability to get the fight done swiftly and with style. And, like Falco in Smash Brothers, the class incorporates the ability to jump, and both seem very good at it (the Jump move IS about as close to flying as any humanoid character can get in this series, and it’s probably as close as it’ll get for a bird with a human body). As a Dragoon, Falco compensates for low health and sub par defense with high attack power and evasion. And, of course, his attacks are particularly effective against dragons; Falco never really was all that fond of lizards, was he?
Allied Race: Bangaa
Weapons: Most effective with spears, but can also equip swords, axes and shields.
Augments and Abilities:
“Jump”-Falco leaps into the air, leaving the fight for a full turn, after which he delivers a blow twice as powerful as his normal physical attack.
“Daredevil”-Falco’s attack power increases when in critical condition.
“Glory-hog”-Falco gets more experience for delivering the finishing blow to an enemy party.
“I ain't your buddy!”-Falco can perform a number of attacks unique to the Dragoon class, most of which does extra damage to dragons.

Slippy-Chemist
It seems appropriate that Slippy be a support-type class. Largely based on the “Flintlock” class of FFTA2 (despite the fact that I dressed him like the “Fusilist”…I liked that outfit better), but with a little bit of the “Alchemist” class of FFX-2, with just a hint of the “Scholar” class. He relies heavily on items to perform; he can increase an item’s potency or combine two items to either heal up teammates or create a makeshift bomb to fire at the enemy. Since this is Slippy we’re talking about, he can also scan enemy stats, including bosses. As a Chemist, Slippy isn’t a very powerful fighter, but can prove to be an invaluable asset, with an almost endless list of ways to help his teammates.
Allied Race: Moogle
Weapons: Cannons
Augments and Abilities:
“Frog Barrage”-The equivalent of IV’s “Twincast”. Slippy and Amanda can cast this spell in tandem, which will cause a random buff to the party and a random de-buff to the enemy. You never know what you’ll get, but supposedly it’s at its best when it’s raining on the field.
“Ballistics”-Slippy can use his hand-cannon to fire helpful spells at his teammates. In a sense, he can heal and buff with technology instead of magic, though these moves require him to “rep” his weapon first.
“Mix”-Slippy can take any two items to either help his teammates or damage the enemy party.
“Enemy Shield Analyzed!”-Slippy can view the statistics of any enemy.

Krystal-Summoner
I never liked the typical Summoner getup, so her look is more based on Rydia and Yuna (although I kept the horn just because). Being a mystical creature, this seems like the most fitting job, and you can’t have a Final Fantasy parody without a Summoner! Like Krystal herself, the Summoner is capable of great support and offense. Though rarely on the frontline, she is able to cause massive amounts of damage, as well as heal and give buffs to her allies. Just as in the canon, her powers give her an edge on the battlefield. As a Summoner, Krystal can invoke a wide array of spirits and cast several other kinds of helpful and powerful spells.
Allied Race: Viera
Weapons: Staves, rods, whips and knives.
Augments and Abilities:
“Summon”-Krystal can call down all sorts of entities to aid the battle. There are the old standbys like Ifrit, Shiva and Bahamut, but to make it more personal, she can also summon the Dinosaurs (maybe Tricky instead of a Chocobo…that could be a fun picture on its own!) and the Krazoa Spirits.
“Spirit Magic”-Summoners usually have the capacity for a second type of magic—Rydia knew Black Magic, Yuna knew White Magic. Since Viera have to be an Elementalist before they can become Summoners, Krystal also knows the spells of that class (call it her subjob…actually, she’d look good in that costume, maybe I’ll draw that too). Krystal can cast spells that inflict elemental damage and have a chance at de-buffing (for example, a water spell can slow the target).
“Spirit Surge”-For every ally at full health, Krystal can multiply the amount of MP needed for a spell in order to make it more powerful (by how much depends on who’s in the party…you would find Fox would more drastically alter her stats than let’s say… Panther).
“Spirit Save”-For every ally in critical condition, Krystal can reduce the amount of MP needed for a spell in order to cast it quicker (by how much depends on who’s in the party…you would find Fox would more drastically alter her stats than let’s say… Panther).

I think this came out all right. Especially Krystal. Fox is the second best one, although I'm not totally happy with his face. The costumes he and Falco wear are loosely based on the FFXI ones, so I ended up scribbling more details than expected. It was a little harder, since they're so small, but I think it makes the image look better overall.

Please, no harsh critique, as it was only done for fun and they’re supposed to be sort of “chibi”.

(Edit-Colors deepened slightly...it may seem a bit blurred, but I made Krystal's dress mint green, not spit-up pea soup yellow)

Very cool. Alternate Universe stuff can result in some of the most interesting characters and situations. =P I'm guessing in this case Andross is a bit like the Ganon of old, being a dark wizard striving to take over the land.

I think you matched their personalities to their classes very well! I thought Slippy was an Engineer at first (kinda like Cid from a couple of the games), but the Chemist works for him as well. Either way, he is more of a support character.

Hmm, you should do some for Star Wolf as well, so we can see what classes they might end up as...

Yeah, I was thinking of FF IV's Cid when coming up with Slippy's "abilities", since he has that analyze skill. It's just that I wanted to be a bit more general with the classes; the "Engineer" was a character-specific title.

One of the sites I used as a reference, [link] , said Cid from IV was closest to the "Scholar" class, and I wasn't fond of that idea.

...And yes, hopefully this will be a series of four or five. If all goes well, the Star Wolf dudes will be third. I already have ideas for their classes and such.

XD Now why hasn't anyone thought of this before? :XD:

This is a very, very interesting way of looking at the Star Fox team, and it certainly makes sense. Just one thing...where does Peppy fit in? o_O

I was hoping to make this into a four-part series. I was planning to make Peppy...a Monk.

I'll have an explanation for you when I make it :XD:
