IS YOUR MIND BLOWN!?

Yeah, this little project was a long time coming. Sadly, I was not able to produce it in time, nor was I able to make it satisfactory, but...here it is. I tried.

So yes, gender-benders. Browsing through DA, I've seen a fair share, most of them were quite awesome--the Teen Titans ones I've seen were particularly creative, I think the fanclub had a contest a few years back...saw some cool Final Fantasy ones, too, even a few neat Zelda ones...man, feels like every fandom is awesome except the ones I involve myself with.

So for the longest time I was inspired to create my own. I shared my thoughts with :iconcaptainraptor: and we've been having fun with it ever since. In a way, they've become characters all their own, but I like to think we've honored their original-gender counterparts.

Now, we're not the first to gender-bend Star Fox characters, not that there's many to begin with. It's just that the few I've seen have been...lacking in personality. Pretty much just Fox with boobs or Krystal with a Johnson. And yes, many of those were adult in nature. Super lame.

So these are our particular gender-switched versions of Fox and Krystal. Vix McCloud and Jem (still kind of like Kryos, since it stems from the Greek word "crystal" comes from and it sounds more exotic...but we've been referring to him as Jem for so long, I suppose I should let that go :XD: ).

Note the creative licenses I took with the designs. Please. I particularly liked turning Fox's iconic scarf into a headband and Krystal's tribal top into a shoulder sling. I also gave him a fang necklace and, while you can't see from this angle, he's supposed to have a buckler strapped to his left arm. Thought those helped make Krystal's Adventure look more masculine, sort of a...rogue gladiator thing going on. I didn't change Fox's outfit much, it's really just simplified and the pants were replaced with a skirt and elastic shorts. I may tweak Vix's Adventure design in the future.

This might be a very rare instance in which the bodies turned out better than the faces. References were used, but I'm still not entirely happy with the end result.

If all goes well, I'll be drawing these two again, as well as some of the other characters. Thinking about doing bio pics. Should be fun.

This is definitely one of the better gender benders of Fox and Krystal I've seen. :D Vix and Jem look great and still keep to their original characters from the look of things.

It looks cute. Fox, or should I say Vix, seems to have that playful character with her, but still gots her 'let's kick some butt' attitude! Krystal, or Jem, seems to still have that femutality to him but with some 'bring it on' kind of attitude..... I hope I said this right. All in all, I think it's neat. They seem to of changed genders but they have something that reminds me of their other gender's character.......Um, good job! =^^=

No worries, you said it fine. It's true, I didn't want to change too much...if I were too liberal with creative changes, at some point it would look more like Fox and/or Krystal's cousins or siblings rather than parallel versions of themselves. Then again, I doubt any one person would be exactly the same if his/her gender were switched, aside from the obvious parts, so some changes were necessary.
