The Leader

So not too long ago, I started a...fascination with dwarfs. Or rather, the idea of female dwarfs. Considering they're seldom seen in any given fantasy, and elves are the so-called beautiful/graceful/all that shit race, I find dwarfs to be a breath of fresh air. Perhaps part of it is being on the short and...thick side myself, I very much like the idea of a badass lady dwarf or two. Or four, in this case.

I daresay this new interest of mine has infected my buddy as he went ahead and made a story featuring four lady dwarfs. How to explain the concept...it's...to me, it's like Sailor Moon, in a twisted way; except the characters don't look like their all cut from the same cloth, and instead of love, sparkles and schoolgirl skirts, there's curves, bloodshed and meat eating.

So here's the first of them; the leader of the bunch, Coal. She's of noble birth, but has fled to the surface with her new allies. She was "bred" a certain way, and hopefully my drawing makes that clear enough.

I'm rather happy with this, as my work with references tend to be better. First time ever drawing a dwarf full-body...not entirely happy with the legs, they seem especially stumpy. But I'll be trying again soon!
